The Rio De Janeiro carnival opened up this weekend - and as I always like to do at this time of the year, I like to celebrate this time by playing some of my favourite Brazilian jams and recent acquisitions. It constantly astounds me just how much incredible music came out of Brazil in 70’s and early 80’s - So here is a selection of some very infectious Samba Soul, Black Rio, Bossa, Battucada, and a taste of the Funk Carioca sound of Rio’s favelas from more recent times.
